Reminder: Parent notification of diabetes information

Beginning this year, Education Code 49452.7 requires local educational agencies to provide type 2 diabetes information as prepared by the California Department of Education to parents of incoming seventh-grade students. This information may be included with the annual parent notifications required under Education Code 48980 or provided through other means. The CDE has posted the required information sheet and translations. To the extent that resources are available, the law also encourages LEAs to provide information regarding locations at which parents may receive free or reduced-cost diabetes screening and education services.
